My 2 yr old shih tzu had a fever & was licking & chewing at her paws alot, i took her to the vet 2 times & they stated that it was allergies & give me some meds for allergies, i use frontline on her, long story short being that the weather has been really hot & she gets over heated i trimmed her fur down more than usual & especially on her paws being that they were red & inflammed, i checked her paws & the lower part of her legs over & over & i found really i mean really tiny bugs stuck to her skin they were in cluster form, i looked info up online & found out that it was chewing lice, i got her some antibiotics from the vet being that she had a fever & was shivering i felt she had an infection, & now she is getting better, i would use her frontline on her once every 2 to 3 months which it states you can do that & also her fleas 7 ticks had never been bad, but know i use the frontline plus every month, which includes getting rid of chewing lice. --------
